An Evidence-Based Roadmap for More Equitable Telemedicine

February 15, 12:00pm, CST - 1:00pm, CST

Ryan Jelinek DO is an Internal Medicine physician at Hennepin Healthcare Systems (HHS) where he practices as a hospitalist. He is also in the second year of a Clinical Informatics fellowship. Over the past year, Ryan has been instrumental in helping HHS build their telehealth platforms from the ground up.

Presentation Overview:

Like many other healthcare systems, Hennepin Healthcare had the opportunity to pivot towards a more robust telemedicine offering during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a safety-net organization with a substantial percentage of vulnerable patients, we were wary of this move over apprehension around potentially furthering existing health disparities in our community. We set out to analyze the gaps in equitable telemedicine delivery in our communities and develop an evidence-based road map for other organizations finding similar gaps. In this session, Dr. Jelinek will outline our process of collecting this information and highlight various pieces of this road map as it relates to the delivery of equitable healthcare via telemedicine.
